HSPH280KH

HSPH280KH is a solar pumping inverter for a 280 kW trifásico AC pump: not a pump and not a panel, but the drive that stands between the two. The array’s DC comes in, the drive holds the array at its maximum power point, and what leaves it for the pump is AC at the voltage and the frequency the motor was built for. The frequency follows the array rather than a fixed supply, so the pump turns at the speed the sun can pay for at that moment, and the day’s water is pumped while the sun is up. This model also states an AC input: grid or generator is switched in while solar is low, and switched out again as solar recovers. Nothing is stored in a battery: the energy is stored as water in a tank or a reservoir.

An existing 280 kW AC pump does not have to be replaced to run on solar. It needs the right drive in front of it, and HSPH280KH is that drive: the motor, the pipework and the wiring stay where they are.

For this model the datasheet states an array window of 400V minimum Vmp and 900V maximum Voc, 644A of rated input current over one string, MPPT at up to 99%, an output of 380/400/440 V at 50-60 Hz (support program range 15 to 60Hz) and an IP21 enclosure for an indoor installation with the switchgear.

What that buys is a pumping day with no meter running: the fuel bill or the grid bill that used to arrive with every hour of pumping goes, and the pump that was already paid for keeps working. The array is not guessed either: the array window is what the string has to sit inside, and the sizing is read from the pump’s duty point rather than from a rule of thumb.
