AC solar water pumps

AC Solar Water Pumps for Irrigation,
Water Supply and Pumping Projects

HOBER combines AC water pumps with solar pumping inverters to provide flexible solar pumping solutions for distributors, installers and project contractors.

01 / Why this line

Why AC Solar Water Pumps

An AC water pump driven by a HOBER solar pumping inverter. The pump stays an AC pump; the inverter is what puts the array in front of it.

  • A drive between the array and the pump The inverter tracks what the array gives and drives the AC motor from it, so the pump that was chosen for the duty is what the array feeds.
  • A standard AC pump The pump itself is a water pump, read from the water source and the duty. It is supplied as part of a pumping system rather than as a pump that has to be matched to a drive on site.
  • Read across a wide power band Because the drive follows the pump, the line is read from small duties up to high-power project duties. The duty point decides where a given site sits in that band.
  • Grid or generator stays possible On the applicable HOBER inverter models the same drive also accepts an AC input, so a site with a grid or a generator keeps that supply as an alternative.

Nothing on this page is a rating. The pump, the inverter and the array are matched against the duty point of a site, and HOBER confirms the configuration before a model is proposed.

02 / Who this is for

Who This Is For

The line is supplied to the businesses that put pumping systems together and keep them running, rather than to a single end user.

Distributors

A range to be read as one system: the pump types the water sources of a market actually call for, with the drive that goes in front of them and the documentation that goes with the set.

Distributor support

Installers

What arrives has to go together on site: the pump, the inverter and the array, with the protections already in the drive and the wiring it expects.

Installer support

Project contractors

A project is quoted from a duty point rather than from a catalogue page, and the same duty point is what the pump, the drive and the array are checked against.

Project support

Pump dealers

A pump that is already familiar can be supplied as a solar pumping system instead of being replaced, so the customer keeps the pump and gains the array.

03 / Water source first

Choose by Water Source

Start with where the water comes from. It narrows the pump types before any figure is read, and it is the first thing our team asks for.

Borehole water source

Wells & boreholes

The pump goes down the hole and the array stays at the surface. Deep-well submersible pumps are read for this source.

Pump types read for this source

Water storage tank

Tanks, pipework and pressure lines

Stored water is moved between tanks or held at pressure in a line, so the pump works against a pressure rather than a lift.

Pump types read for this source

Wastewater water source

Wastewater and drainage

Water that carries solids is lifted out of a wet well or a sump and discharged, which asks for a pump built for that water.

Pump types read for this source

A water source finds the candidates; it does not decide the pump. The medium being pumped, the duty the pump has to meet and the installation it sits in are checked before a type is proposed.

04 / Pump and inverter

How Pump + Inverter Matching Works

The pump is read from the water and the duty, and the drive is then read from the pump. Neither is chosen on its own.

  • The water source and the medium being pumped.
  • The flow the site needs.
  • The total head the pump has to meet, the lift and the losses together.
  • The motor the pump carries: its voltage, its phase and its rated current, read from the nameplate.
  • The array the site can put up, and how it is arranged for the inverter.

The PV ratio is confirmed by HOBER against the pump and the site. It is not taken from a table on this page, because a ratio that suits one array does not suit another.

All Pump Types at a Glance

Every pump type this line is read in, as a glance at the range rather than a specification: each card opens the published series, where its families, its models and the water sources and applications it is classified under are set out.

The families a pump type is read in, and the models inside them, are on the series page itself. This page stops at the pump type, and no pump model is given a page of its own.

06 / How to select

How to Select

Four things decide a pump, and they are read in this order. The first three come from the site; the fourth follows from them.

  1. Water source Borehole or well, an open surface source, stored water under pressure, or wastewater. This is the first thing to say, because it removes whole groups of pumps.
  2. Required flow The volume the site has to move in the time it has, quoted the way the project quotes it.
  3. Total dynamic head The lift plus the losses in the pipework, the fittings and the discharge, taken together rather than as a depth alone.
  4. Pump type and site conditions The pump type the source and the duty leave, checked against the conditions on site: the medium being pumped, the installation and the supply the site can offer.

08 / Online selection

Online Selection

Enter the duty point and the site: the water source, the flow and the head. The selection reads the recorded data and comes back with the candidate pumps and the drive that suits them. It is a starting point for a quotation, not a commitment.

Share the water source, the flow and the total head, and the conditions on site. Our sales team comes back with the pump type that fits, the drive in front of it and the array it needs.
